Heartwings Love Notes 305 - The Message Is Love

Heartwings says, "Love is part of every season yet it seems most especially prevalent in the spring."

It's easy to fall in love in the spring. There is something in the air that calls out to the heart. All of nature begins to look brighter. The birds and squirrels gather at my feeder, sometimes, especially the chipmunks, in pairs. As my blood warms from its winter sluggishness my whole body feels more relaxed, more open to the joy of life. The longer hours of light are a blessing.

Even on cold days the sunlight lifts my heart. I seem to get more done; I also take more pleasure in the doing. While the time between the holiday season and the onset of spring passes slowly, around the Equinox time begins to speed up. I speed up with it. I am more enthusiastic. I fall in love with whatever I am doing. I look with greater anticipation at the piles that like dinosaur snowdrifts left in parking lots litter my living space and cry out for elimination.

Easter is the festival that marks the division between winter and spring. When it is early, as it was this year, it seems to enhance the burgeoning of spring energy. It is also an occasion for the sharing of love. Like Thanksgiving, Easter brings families and friends together to enjoy one another's company and celebrate the season with special foods and traditions. This Sunday as I looked around at the dear faces gathered in my home I smiled. Our Easter feast was underway and my heart rejoiced.

In the fall we give thanks for the harvest, in the spring we plant with love. The celebration of Easter is really about love. All forms of love are part of this great festival: the love that results in the tending of the garden, the love that results in mating and children, the love that results in sacrifice. The great Easter festival is all of this and more. It is above all an opportunity to acknowledge that love makes the world go around, and to share in that process.

May you feel the joy of spring in your heart and discover love in every season.
